Every year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America holds Day for Kids to celebrate the importance of creating strong relationships between adults and young people and encourage them to spend meaningful, quality time together. On Saturday, Sept. 13, partners from Intercultural Affairs at HWS and the Geneva community are helping to sponsor the Day for Kids.
“A cool thing that we are all doing together,” says the HWS Intercultural Affairs Program Coordinator Aisha Rivers ’07, “is preparing for a dessert tasting with recipes found in our various cultures. We’ll be baking and making the desserts on Saturday morning to have them ready for the Kids’ Day event.”
The day’s activities include a basketball competition, rock climbing, carnival games and prizes, henna tattoos, step and salsa lessons, caricature drawings, a bounce house, food vendors, an art gallery and a talent show.
In addition to the Colleges, the planning committee is comprised of representatives from the Boys and Girls Club of Geneva, Geneva Recreation, Finger Lakes WIB, Council on Alcoholism, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Rape Crisis Center, Army National Guard, Ontario County Youth Bureau, Geneva Family YMCA, Geneva Public Library and Parkitects.
