Hamilton earns RACA honor; Herons rank 11th

The William Smith College field hockey team moved up in this week’s STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll to No. 11. Led by junior forward Kaitlyn Hamilton, the Herons are off to a 2-0 start this fall.

Hamilton was recently named the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Female Athlete of the Week, after totaling eight points for William Smith in its first week of competition. She notched a goal and two assists in a 7-1 rout of Elmira, then went on to score both goals as the Herons shut out Nazareth 2-0.

Hamilton, also tabbed the Liberty League Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, currently leads the league in goals (3) and points (8), and ranks second in assists (2).

William Smith will be in action again on Sat., Sept. 13, when it hosts Oswego for a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
