The 14th-ranked Hobart College soccer team defeated Brockport 1-0 this afternoon on A. Huntley Field. The Statesmen remain undefeated at 5-0-0 overall, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 2-2-0 on the season.
Hobart scored the lone goal of the day in the first half. First-year defender Anthony Rozmus recorded his first collegiate tally, as he connected on a crossed ball from first-year midfielder Clancy Purcell. Purcell has assisted on five of the Statesmen’s nine goals so far this season.
Senior goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon collected eight saves, picking up his third shutout of the year, while Brockport goalie Craig Waasdorp notched nine saves.
The Golden Eagles outshot their visitors 21-17. Brockport also held a slight 7-6 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Tues., Sept. 16, when they travel to Rochester to take on St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
