The William Smith College cross country team registered a fifth-place team finish at the Liberty League Championships today. Senior Katie Pietrak led the Herons in the 6-kilometer race, placing 33rd with a season-best time of 26 minutes, 10 seconds.
First-year Rosemary Scheibel followed Pietrak across the finish line, taking the 34th spot in the 74-runner field. She posted a season-best time of 26:17. Sophomore Amanda Levy also registered a season-best time of 26:26, good for 38th.
Senior Cathleen Zupan rounded out the top four William Smith harriers. She placed 43rd in a time of 26:44.
The Herons will be back in action on Oct. 11, when they compete in the Hamilton Invitational at 11 a.m.
