The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team registered a fourth-place finish out of 16 teams at the North Fall #2 Regatta, hosted by New York Maritime. The sailors also came in sixth out of 20 in Navy’s Fall Regatta, and posted a 15th place finish out of 20 in the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth.
At N.Y. Maritime, first-year Patrick Kana and junior Emily Pelo raced to a fourth-place finish in the A division with 66 points. They posted nine top-five finishes in 15 races. In the B division, junior Mark du Moulin and sophomore Holly Huffine took sixth after placing in the top-three seven times.
Seniors Austin Kana and Kaitlyn Van Nostrand took third in the B division at Navy with 134 points, while classmate Rob Crane placed fifth in the C division with 152 points. Kana and Van Nostrand finished 10 out of 20 races in the top-five. Senior John Sampson and first-year Chris Klevan posted a 10th-place finish in the A division (191 points), while sophomore Sam Padnos and first-year Sam Blouin combined for sixth in the D division (147).
The HWS sailing team will be back on the water Oct. 24-25, when it competes in the Fall Dinghy Regatta at Kings Point, the Hoyt Trophy at Brown, and the Stu Nelson Regatta at Connecticut College. Additionally, Crane, along with his sister, sophomore Kelly Crane will be in action at Cornell as they compete in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association’s Men’s and Women’s Singlehanded Championships.
