For the third time this year, The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has honored Hobart and William Smith. The Colleges’ newly redesigned Web site, launched in November 2007, received a 2008 Circle of Excellence Bronze Award in the complete Web site category.
“Our redesign reflects hours of creative thinking and hard work,” said Director of Communications Cathy Williams. “I couldn’t be more proud of the Web team or of the results.”
The Colleges Web site was one of more than 3,500 entries received by CASE for consideration in 41 categories, though only 363 entries were honored. Despite steep odds, www.hws.edu was one of only three Web sites recognized in the complete Web site category.
“Our judges noted that this site was very well done by an on-campus team,” said the CASE judges. “The design relies on a device the designers call “experience maps,” an intriguing and nonlinear representation of the multiple learning pathways HWS students follow.”
Earlier in the year, CASE awarded a Gold Medal to the “Campaign for the Colleges” video and a Silver Award to the Centennial Web site.
CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and other areas, serving nearly 3,400 universities, colleges, schools and related organizations in 60 countries.
