The William Smith College squash team will travel to Harvard this weekend, Feb. 13-15, to compete in the Howe Cup. The Herons, currently ranked 23rd in the nation, are the top seeded team in the Epps Cup (D Division).
William Smith will take on the eighth seed, 32nd-ranked Wellesley on Friday at 9:30 a.m. The winner of the match will square off against the winner of fourth seeded/28th-ranked Georgetown and No. 5/29th Haverford on Saturday. The Herons will play a third match on Sunday, time and opponent is to be determined.
Sophomore Alexa Comstock has posted a team-high nine wins this winter, splitting time between the No. 5, 6, and 8 spots. Senior Eliza Braendel is close behind with eight victories, mostly at No. 9, while junior Katie Mullen has also been solid for the Herons, recording a 7-9 mark playing at No. 2, 3, and 4.
William Smith carries a 6-10 overall record into its final weekend of competition this season. The Herons won the Walker Cup Trophy, the C division of the Howe Cup, in 2006 and 2007, and placed fourth in 2008.
