This weekend, students will have the chance to enjoy the campus in a whole new way, as it turns into an Iceless Ice Rink for the 1st Annual Winter Carnival. Sponsored by Student Activities and Residential Education, part of Medbery Parking Lot will be converted into a synthetic ice rink from Thursday, Feb. 19 to Saturday, Feb. 21.
Due to a delay because of soggy grounds, the Carnival will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday. From 6 – 10 p.m., there will be open skating.
All day Thursday, students can use their creativity to participate in the ultimate snow sculpture competition (weather permitting). At 6 p.m., students are invited to enjoy free food, fun and skating at the Winter Carnival Kick Off, followed by the Opening Kick-Off After-Party at 8 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday, there will be open skating from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Starting at noon on Friday, the snow sculpture competition winner will be judged and awarded. At 6 p.m., groups of six players will take to the “ice” for a game of Broomball, a combination of ice hockey and indoor soccer. To sign up a team, contact Kristen Tobey in Res Ed at email@example.com.
Saturday, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., a relay race competition will be held. Come out to participate in various relay competitions.
During these events, Winter Carnival T-shirts will be given out. Come get yours while enjoying the many Carnival festivities.
