HWS students regularly get their work clothes on and get dirty working on service projects in Geneva, or don play clothes to work with children as part of such service programs as America Reads or Jumpstart. This week, they’ll have the opportunity to dress up and celebrate their service at the semi-formal fundraiser Jumpstart is hosting on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The Jumpstart Gala begins at 8 p.m. in the Vandervort Room.
Jumpstart is a national non-profit organization that encourages young people to work with children to prepare them for success by developing their early language, literacy, and social skills.
“I decided to host this event because I believe it is extremely important for college students to see how they are appreciated for all the volunteer work they have been doing,” says Leah Crohn ’09, Jumpstart Volunteer Coordinator.
Participants can enjoy live music and food at the Jumpstart Gala, while raising money for Geneva’s pre-schools. There will be a chance to win gift baskets from Jumpstart’s sponsors, including Starbucks, American Eagle, and more. There’s even a chance to win diamond jewelry!
Tickets are on sale in Scandling Campus Center for $3 each, or can be purchased at the door for $5.
