Since 2006, the Big Brothers Big Sisters program has flourished at Hobart and William Smith – there are currently more than 40 “Bigs” matched with “Littles” in the Geneva community. Bowl for Kids Sake, the organization’s largest fundraiser, has become a tradition over the years.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the group held their most successful fundraising event to date. The bowl-a-thon held at Sunset Bowl raised more than $4,000 for the HWS Big Brothers Big Sisters program, surpassing their goal by more than $1,000.
Sixteen teams took part in the bowling event, including Delta Chi, Kappa Alpha, residential assistants, career services staff, education department faculty and staff, and many others. Delta Chi fraternity raised the most money of all the teams, with Brendan Csaposs being recognized for his efforts. Over the past three years, Csaposs has raised the most money individually.
Throughout the spring, Big Brothers Big Sisters will begin to recruit for next year; if you would like to be involved with the program, watch for e-mails, posters and informational sessions. For more information, please contact Stephanie Wells at email@example.com.
