Fitzgerald scored 14 goals as the Herons defeated St. John Fisher, Rensselaer, and Vassar in a span of five days. She scored three goals, including the game winner, on March 24 as William Smith edged the Cardinals 9-7. Fitzgerald went on to net six goals in Friday’s 17-10 victory over the Red Hawks, and added five more tallies the next day in the Herons’ 19-10 win over the Brewers. She leads the team with 24 goals and 27 points, and paces the Liberty League in goals per game (4.80) and points per game (5.40).
William Smith is ranked 18th in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, and carries a 5-0 overall record into tomorrow’s game at 14th-ranked Cortland. The Herons will take on the Red Dragons (2-4) at 4 p.m. Fans unable to make it to the game can listen live on WHWS-FM (105.7).
