HWS sailing places 6th, 8th in two regattas

The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team was in action at the Brad Dellenbaugh Women’s Trophy hosted by Brown, and the Southern New England Team Race at Connecticut College over the weekend. The sailors placed sixth out of 18 at Connecticut College, and eighth out of 16 at Brown.

William Smith sophomores Kelly Crane, Holly Huffine, and Sarah Yuskaitis sailed to an eighth-place finish in the A division at the Dellenbaugh. They finished 10 of the 14 races in the top-10. In the B division, sophomore Caroline Patten and junior Emily Pelo placed sixth, after finishing in the top-eight in seven races, including two victories.

At the Southern New England Team Race, senior Austin Kana, senior Josh Parks, junior John Sampson, first-year Sam Blouin, sophomore David Thompson, senior Kaitlyn Van Nostrand, junior Meghan Jordan, and sophomore Hannah Littell combined for the sixth-place finish.

The HWS sailing team will be back in action April 11-12, when it competes in the Prosser Trophy at Georgetown, and the President’s Trophy at Boston University.
