Hobart College senior Keith Longo was recently featured in the Democrat and Chronicle in a spotlight piece. Longo was honored this month by U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) after guiding the Statesmen to a program-record 21-7-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament semifinals. Longo was named to the USCHO East All-Star First Team. More information about this honor is available online.

Senior goaltender Keith Longo holds every Hobart season and career hockey record. His .930 career save percentage is tops all-time in NCAA Division III, and he ranks in the top 25 in Division III history in career shutouts (fourth with eight), career goals against average (ninth at 2.30), career saves (14th) and career wins (22nd, 51). He’ll compete Friday in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge in Washington, D.C., as the only Division III representative.
Hometown (high school): Milford, Mass. (Cushing Academy).
Dream job: Professional hockey player or professional musician.
How did you get involved in hockey? My dad was a hockey fan and he got me started.
Have you always been a goaltender? I always wanted to be, I was pretty obsessed as a kid, but my dad wanted me to play forward for the first year so I could learn to skate well.
Tell the truth, does your mind ever wander when Hobart has the puck at the other end? And what are you thinking about? If it does wander I do my best to try to bring it back to the game. Sometimes I get caught singing whatever songs they play between whistles.
Other sports played in high school: I played lacrosse for a year, and tennis.
Favorite food: Italian or Thai.
Foods you detest: Mushrooms, green olives.
Must-see TV: Entourage, Dexter, American Idol, 24.
Celebrity dream date: Rachel McAdams or Jessica Alba.
Reality show you’d do best on: American Gladiators.
First thing you eat in the morning: Eggs.
Greatest moment in sports: Going to the Final 4 with my team.
Worst moment in sports: My last game at Cushing.
Summer plans: Train hard and stop a lot of pucks.
On your iPod now: I listen to everything. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of The Script.
No. 1 pet peeve: Ignorant people.
Fill in the blank: If I hear about (The Jonas Brothers ) one more time, I’ll scream.
Little-known fact about you: I play in a band at school in which I’m the singer, and I also act. I did a play in NYC 2 summers ago.
