A goalkeeper, Josefiak collected a career-high 17 saves in the 16th-ranked Herons’ 8-7 overtime loss at No. 6 Hamilton on Friday. She stopped 10 of the 12 shots she faced in the second half, allowing William Smith to rally from a 5-3 halftime deficit and force overtime. Josefiak anchored a Heron defense that held the defending national champion Continentals to their lowest scoring output of the season, more than seven goals below their season average.
Josefiak shattered her previous career mark of 13 saves, which she set in the 2007 season in a win at St. Lawrence, and matched twice this season in victories over St. John Fisher and St. Lawrence. Overall, she ranks third in the Liberty League in goals against average (9.12) and fourth in save percentage (.515).
The Herons own a 7-2 overall record and are 4-1 in the Liberty League. They will be back in action on April 15, when they travel to Nazareth for a non-league contest at 5 p.m. Fans unable to make it to the game can listen live on WHWS-FM (105.7), or follow along with live stats.
