The William Smith College tennis team defeated Geneseo 7-2 this afternoon at the HWS Tennis Center. The Herons improve to 7-4 overall, while the Blue Knights fall to 13-3 on the season.
William Smith senior Chelsea Rauck led the Herons with a comeback victory at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 over Vivian Cheny. First-years Casey Kennedy, Joanie Hilton, and Jess McCue took third, fourth, and sixth singles, respectively, while sophomore Melissa Slack won at No. 5.
In doubles action, Rauck and Hilton downed Cheny and Passik 8-2 at No. 1, and Kennedy and McCue prevailed over Lenet and Olga Dimic 8-3 at No. 3.
The Herons will be back in action on April 17, when they host Brockport for a match at 7 p.m.
