Under the direction of Robert Cowles, professor of music, the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Chorale will present a concert this Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel.
The Chorale will perform works by Renaissance composers John Dowland, William Byrd, Hans Leo Hassler, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Heinrich Schutz and William Schuman.
In addition, the chamber group Cantori will perform the newly commissioned work “Anacreontics: Songs of Love, Heaven, and Wine” by Arizona composer Judith Cloud, who will be in attendance for these concerts.
Cloud’s work will be accompanied by classical guitarist Kenneth Meyer, applied instructor of music. Meyer will accompany the Chorale on other works on the program as well. The concert will conclude with a set of Latin American compositions and arrangements.
