Capacity Building in Tanzania

UNESCO sent Charles Temple, professor of education, and Codruta Temple to Moshi, Tanzania, last week to present “Capacity Building in the Teaching of Reading and Writing,” the last in a series of three forty-hour trainings for teacher educators in the northern area of that country. The workshop was hosted by the Tanzanian Ministry of Education and Culture, and it will be followed next year by two more series of trainings aimed at staff from the remainder of Tanzania's teacher training colleges. The Temples will return to Tanzania this summer to refine the curricula for the next series of trainings.
