Moving Up Day, one of the oldest and fondest William Smith College traditions, will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, in the Bristol Gym. Students, their families and friends, alumnae, administrators and faculty are invited to take part in the ceremony, which celebrates William Smith College and the achievements of its women.
The event begins with “Hoop Dreams” on the William Smith Hill, and William Smith students are asked to then assemble on the Hill at 4 p.m. wearing class colors to prepare for the procession. Led by the senior class who carry laurel garland, the students will process down the hill carrying class banners. Hobart students and other guests are asked to join the women under the tent for the ceremony, which will include the presentation of awards and prizes and the sharing of class legacies. William Smith Congress Executive Board officers and members of Laurel Society and Hai Timiai will also be announced.
A High Tea and Reception will follow the ceremony, at 6 p.m. in the Comstock Dining Room and Lounge. All are invited to attend. RSVP by April 29 to email@example.com.
