Clowns, balloons and face painting were just some of the fun that was had by those attending the Winter Festival sponsored by Hobart students last week.
February 8, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second year, students of Hobart College came together and hosted an afternoon of fun for the children in the Geneva community. Winter Festival, sponsored by the Hobart Student Association, was held on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Barn, located on campus. Jeremy Cooney, of Rochester, a Hobart sophomore, was pleased with the turnout. “We are glad the children of Geneva came to campus and enjoyed the crafts, food and games sponsored by the Hobart fraternities and honor societies,” said Cooney.
Each of the College’s fraternities and the Hobart honor society sponsored a booth in which they either played a game, helped make a craft or handed out goodies and treats. There was also a magic show and a clown that roamed the crowd making balloons. The event was aimed at attracting elementary-aged children from Geneva and the faculty.
“We want to show the Geneva community that indeed Hobart men care,” Cooney said.
The Hobart Student Association is the student government of Hobart College and is open to every enrolled student of the College. The Association is led by a central government consisting of executive officers, the Hobart Student Assembly, and a judicial body.
