On Thursday, July 23, the third-annual Pre-Cruisin’ Night will be held to benefit the Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes, Inc. (FCSFL), a non-profit organization that serves Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties. Several members of the Colleges’ community serve on the executive board of this local non-profit including, Katie Flowers, associate director of the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning, and Jeff VanLone, director of the Counseling Center. Molly DiStefano ’10 serves as honorary executive board member.
“We have appreciated past support for Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes through attendance of the annual Pre-Cruisin’ Night Fundraiser,” says Flowers. “Over the past two years, more than $4,800 has been raised and 100 percent of all proceeds have gone directly to Family Counseling programs and outreach efforts supporting women, children, and families in crisis.”
Pre-Cruisin’ takes place just prior to the City of Geneva’s Cruisin’ Night 2009 and features food, drinks and door prizes. The event is held at Lynch Furniture, 485 Exchange Street, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, all you can eat and drink as well as tickets for a variety of door prizes. The mission of FCSFL is “to provide professional counseling and supportive services to individuals, children and families to improve the quality of their life at home and in the community.” Programs offered by FCSFL include domestic violence/safe home, sexual abuse, Hispanic youth, employee assistance, and teen violence prevention.
