Emily Desmery ’12, a media and society major, found an ideal internship this summer. She has the opportunity to experience the multi-faceted services an integrated marketing communications firm provides to its clients, and learn more about her own interests in the process. As an intern for KSC Advertising and Public Relations Inc. in Sarasota, Fla., Desmery has direct contact with clients and has had the opportunity to sit in on client meetings, write press releases and has even watched a commercial being shot. KSC produces print, broadcast and new media advertising, radio and television commercials, and designs advertising campaigns.
“This internship is ideal for me because I get to see many different aspects of public relations,” says Desmery.
Each day brings a new task for her as she experiences the many ways in which advertising and public relations firms support their clients.
“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to intern at KSC,” she says. “I’m not yet sure what I want to focus on when I graduate, so working here exposes me to all aspects of media to help me make an informed decision.”
Desmery is a media and society and studio art double major and a member of the William Smith crew team.
