Barlette ’09 Saluted

The New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation NYSTAR included recent William Smith graduate Rachel Barlette ’09 in its July newsletter, lauding Barlette for her years of work with the organization. According to its Web site, NYSTAR “supports technology development, innovation and commercialization leading to economic growth in New York State.”

An article titled, “NYSTAR salutes our own” in the July 30 issue of “NYSTAR Sci Tech Bytes,” notes Barlette returned this year for her third summer as an intern with the organization, after graduating from William Smith this spring with a B.A. in political science and American studies. It goes on to state:

“Throughout her four years at Hobart and William Smith Colleges Rachel competed as a NCAA athlete on the Swimming and Diving team as well as the Golf team. In 2007, she traveled abroad and studied international relations and public policy in Germany, Romania, and Hungary at various Universities. Working summers and winter breaks at NYSTAR, Rachel has worked on a wide variety of projects. She is currently working on processing and reviewing matching fund applications for stimulus projects throughout New York State. Rachel hopes to continue a career in government relations or communications.”
