A Technological Role

Lex Kridler ’10 was selected to participate in a summer internship at Resource Interactive, one of America’s leading digital marketing companies.  Based in Columbus, Ohio, only a 10 minute drive from Kridler’s home in Upper Arlington, Resource Interactive develops and maintains the digital presence for companies such as Wal-Mart, Wendy’s, L.L. Bean, Victoria’s Secret and many additional national and international companies.

“I knew about Resource Interactive because it is a leader in the digital marketing industry,” says Kridler.  “Resource is a leader in technological innovation and the development of a stimulating workplace culture.  Being a computer science major at HWS, I wanted to experience Resource Interactive and what made it so successful.”

Kridler says that Resoure is involved in a variety of projects for a broad range of companies.  For example, the Sherwin Williams iPhone application analyzes a picture taken on an iPhone in order to display which Sherwin Williams paint colors coordinate with the colors from the picture.  Other examples of Resource’s projects include showcasing new Facebook development tools, vspink.com, and the Gain first sniff contest.

Kridler’s role was to help with updating Web sites for companies such as Limited Brands, Wendys, Proctor & Gamble, and Herbal Essences.  He also gained experience developing promotional e-mails for companies to send to their customers.  The experience enabled him to work with a number of computer languages, including html, css, xml, Facebook development languages, and JavaEE.

Kridler also helped plan the Summer Event at the end of the internship.

“The Summer Event is a company theme party that brings everyone from the company together,” explains Kridler.  This year, the Summer Event theme was the Amazing Race.  The race involved an iPhone application, developed by Resource, that was used by teams to navigate the course.

“During my internship, I experienced the pressures of coding for a client who has a well-defined time table and high expectations,” Kridler says.  “From having helped to meet those deadlines, I contributed to the digital presence of companies that have a global audience.  I am grateful for the opportunity to have interned at Resource Interactive.  I experienced a world-class work culture at a world-class company.”
