In the 83rd minute, Nasypany headed in her third goal of the season off a cross from first-year Renee Jensen to give William Smith the victory. The assist marked Jensen’s team-leading third of the year.
The Herons had many opportunities to score throughout the match. Early in the second half, sophomore Leslie Carrese lofted the ball into the box, and found sophomore Chelsea England breaking away from the defense. Brewer goalie Ali Higgins came out to challenge, and England passed to Nasypany, who appeared to have a wide open shot on net. However, Vassar defender Alix Zongrone got to the goal line just in time to make the team save. Nasypany and England continued to put the pressure on, nearly teaming up for two more goals.
William Smith owned an 11-5 advantage in shots, and held the Brewers to just two shots on goal.
Heron sophomore goalie Amanda Davis stopped two shots for her fourth shutout of the year, while Higgins finished with seven saves for the hosts.
William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 26, when the Herons travel to Rensselaer for another Liberty League contest at 2 p.m.
