On Friday, Oct. 16, the Department of Music will present a concert for Trustees’ Weekend at 7:30 p.m. in the Vandervort Room in the newly renovated Scandling Campus Center.
Guitar instructor and accomplished guitarist Kenneth Meyer will lead the HWS Guitar Ensemble in Eythor Thorlaksson’s “Camino Felanitx,” before a solo performance of Andrew York’s “Emergence.”
The Tuesday Piano Quartet, featuring, among others, William Smith alumna Jane Hoose Bentsen and HWS piano instructor Meg Heaton, will perform Johannes Brahms’s “Symphony No. 3” (Mvt. 3: Poco allegretto) and Kevin Olson’s “Perpetual Commotion.”
Heaton will also accompany cellist Celeste Smith ’12 on David Popper’s “Fond Recollections, Op. 64/1,” saxophonist Kathyrn Lamardo ’13 on Paule Maurice’s “Tableaux de Provence” (Mvt. 5: Lou Cabridan) and soprano vocalist Keira Carmichael ’13 on Carlisle Floyd’s “Trees on the Mountain” from the opera Susannah.
Piano instructor Bob Barbuto will direct the HWS Jazz Ensemble in B.J. Jones’s “No Way” and Topaz’s “Let Go.”
All are invited to come listen to these wonderful numbers in this outstanding showcase of student, faculty, staff and local talent.
