Alum named Director of Strategy

Jim Moscou ’90 was recently hired as director of strategy and development by TDA Advertising & Design in Boulder, Colo., where he will work on planning and agency development under TDA creative director Jonathan Schoenberg ’90.

TDA is a strategically-focused creative agency with $26 million billings from clients including, among others, FirstBank, Chobani Yogurt, USA Networks, Irving Oil, Johnson & Johnson, Titus Bicycles, Cloudveil, and 1% for the Planet.

Moscou, who graduated from Hobart with a B.A. in American public policy, was most recently at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder and worked on the Microsoft and Alliance for Climate Protection (Al Gore) accounts.

Previously, he was a journalist for Newsweek and US News & World Report, covering the American West, and before that, an associate and contributing editor at Editor & Publisher magazine in New York City.  His work has also appeared in The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, Details, Esquire and other national and regional newspapers and magazines.

In 2001-02 Moscou was the American Journalism Fellow at Oxford University, where he researched media and globalization trends. He has also been an instructor at University of Colorado, Boulder School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Moscou holds many journalism awards, including from the National Press Club and the Society for Professional Journalists.

“Throughout my career, all my work has been about communicating culture-to track, digest and bring to people insights on trends that really matter and are steeped in truth,” Moscou says. “TDA understands the value of that research, and the benefit and confidence it will bring clients and their products when jumping into today’s cultural stream.”

Schoenberg adds, “Jim’s coming on board at a good time. Over the last year, our clients have become larger, with larger strategic needs. We’ve done pretty well up to now with good common sense. Jim’s going to buttress that with some serious research chops.”

Moscou holds a master’s in journalism and mass communication from University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Fellowship from Oxford University.
