PRADO Announces Scholarship Recipients

June 4, 2004: The scholarship committee of the Public Radio Association of Development Officers (PRADO) has announced the recipients of its scholarships for the Public Radio Development and Marketing Conference to be held July 29 through 31 in Austin, Texas. PRADO raised a record amount in scholarship grants, thanks to the generosity of corporate and private contributors.

According to Joyce Schreiber, chair of the scholarship committee, “This year's competition for PRADO scholarships was more intense than ever before. Although we had more donated funds to work with, we were not able to accommodate every candidate. Nonetheless, we are able to send 13 development professionals to the PRDMC who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to attend.”

The PRADO Scholarship program began in 2000 and, in its first four years, provided financial assistance to 24 individuals. There were more scholarship applicants this year than in any year since the PRADO scholarship program began in 2000. Forty-seven individuals requested scholarships, and 13 were selected to receive them. Joyce Schreiber served as this year's committee chair and was assisted by Cheryl Levitt, Sarah McDaniel, JC Patrick and June Fox.
