The first senior event for the Classes of 2010 will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, when the senior class organizers will host a 100 Days celebration-adding a few twists this year.
“We don’t want to have a generic or cliché 100 Days celebration,” says Innis Baah ’10, Hobart senior class president. “I think having a theme behind the celebration would unite seniors and give the event more of a senior year atmosphere.”
Like all of this year’s senior events, the 100 Days Cocktail Party, with the theme of “Seniors’ Night Out,” will feature a pre-event.
“We hope to have a pre-event before each senior celebration event, so there is a place to gather before heading downtown as well as an alternative to the bar scene,” says Shalon Hilton, William Smith senior class president.
The pre-event for the 100 Days outing will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Cooler (the Geneva skating rink, located at 666 Exchange Street). The rink will be reserved exclusively for seniors, and free skate rentals and hot cocoa will be provided.
Immediately following the skating event, seniors can head down to Riley J’s, which will be open for seniors from 11 p.m. to closing, featuring drink specials, dancing and DJ, who will be spinning all your favorites hits.
“And that’s where we hope the theme will come into full effect,” Baah says. “Be sure to wear your ‘cocktail party’ attire.”
Senior events will continue throughout the semester. On Tuesday, March 2, “Seniors in Harmony,” the 75 Days theme, will begin with a concert exclusively for seniors, featuring performances by the Hobartones, 3 Miles Lost and other groups on campus.
