Hobart hockey blanks Neumann

First-year goalie Nick Broadwater recorded his first career shutout to lead the Hobart College hockey team to a 1-0 victory over ECAC West rival Neumann tonight at Ice Works Arena. The
Statesmen improve to 8-8-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference, while the Knights fall to 9-7-2 on the year and 2-4-2 in the ECAC West.

Five minutes, 47 seconds into the second period, Hobart senior Aleksey Koval lit the lamp with the only goal of the contest. The goal marked his seventh of the season, and first game-winner. Fellow seniors Blake Bonham and Bobby Cahill set up the even-strength tally.

Broadwater collected 26 saves for the shutout and his seventh win of the year. Neumann’s Ross MacKinnon also stopped 26 shots on the night.

The Statesmen held a narrow 27-26 advantage in shots and were 0-for-2 on the power play. The Knights were 0-for-3.

Hobart and Neumann will faceoff again tomorrow, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m.
