Jeff VanLone, psychologist and director of the Center for Counseling and Student Wellness, has been selected as the 2009 winner of the American College Personnel Association’s (ACPA) Commission for Counseling and Psychological Services Early Career Award. This annual award is given to honor and reward the exemplary achievements of an individual’s career contributions to the field of college and university counseling and psychological services.
“This is a great honor for Jeff VanLone as well as Hobart and William Smith, ” says Robb Flowers, vice president of student affairs. “This is a highly selective award; nearly all institutions in the country participate in ACPA.”
VanLone will be publicly recognized at the American College Personnel Association annual convention in Boston, Mass., at an ACPA Leadership Reception and Awards Ceremony on March 20. Additionally, the organization’s Commission on Counseling and Psychological Services will be publicly recognizing VanLone and other winners during the CCAPS Social on March 23.
“It’s a nice surprise and an honor to be recognized by my professional peers for work that I truly enjoy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with exceptional students and colleagues at Hobart and William Smith,” says VanLone.
