Erikson S. Blakney was honored with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s New York District Office Small Business Journalist of the Year award, during National Small Business Week.
Blakney is a radio reporter for Bloomberg News, headquartered in New York City. Through interviews with established business owners, entrepreneurs and financial experts from around the country, Blakney’s reports cover virtually all aspects of small business ownership and management. His reports are heard on more than 100 radio stations across the country. Each year, the President of the United States designates one week as National Small Business Week in recognition of the significant contributions made by the small business company. This year, National Small Business Week was held May 16 through May 22.
Additionally, Blakney is a contributor to the Boston Globe and the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Village Care New York, a not-for-profit organization serving senior citizens, persons living with HIV/AIDS and individuals in need of medical and rehabilitation services. Blakney is a member of the Hobart Class of 1987 and a graduate of Maumee Valley Country Day School in Toledo, Ohio.
