On Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26, nearly 20 colleges and universities from the greater New England area will visit the HWS campus for the 2010 New England Deans meeting, featuring two days of panels, presentations and discussions about higher education.
Topics include: liberal arts and civic engagement, health promotion in college, inclusive excellence, men and women in college, experiential learning through internships, service and careers, and legal issues in higher education.
“The annual meeting provides an important opportunity for sharing of ideas and best practices among similar institutions,” says Vice President of Student Affairs Robb Flowers.
“I’m very excited to see what this conference has in store,” says Cerri Banks, Dean of William Smith. “There are representatives from many fine institutions, and I’m sure this will be an invaluable experience for all of us.”
In addition to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, participating colleges and universities include: Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Colgate University, Connecticut College, Cornell University, Hamilton College, Harvard University, Haverford College, Mount Holyoke College, Princeton University, Sarah Lawrence College, Skidmore College, St. Lawrence University, Vassar College, Wellesley College, Wesleyan University and Wheaton College.
Other events during the conference include performances by the William Smith and Hobart a cappella groups, 3 Miles Lost and the Hobartones; a jazz concert led by HWS instructor Bob Barbuto; and tours of Finger Lakes wineries and the Women’s Rights National Historical Park.
