HWS Commitment to the Community

Haven’t gotten a chance to help out at one of the Days of Service this year? Don’t miss the third and final Day of Service of the 2009-2010 academic year and help the community with its spring-cleaning. On Saturday, March 27, volunteers are invited to meet on the Quad at 12:30 p.m. to enjoy lunch before heading to work sites at 1 p.m.

Sites in Geneva include: Trinity Church, Geneva Little League, and downtown with the Geneva Business Improvement District. A group will also travel to Penn Yan to assist the Humane Society of Yates County at the Shelter of Hope.

The three Days of Service, co-chaired by Brandon Lawson ’11 and Belinda Littlefield ’11, are an ongoing and visible sign of the Colleges’ commitment to the greater-Geneva area.

“Community service was an important part of my life even before coming to HWS and so I try to help out in the Geneva community as much as possible,” says Lawson.

“I’ve learned so much by helping others and I think, given the opportunity, the student body can learn something more about themselves,” says Littlefield.

To sign up, or for more information, contact the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning by e-mailing serve@hws.edu or calling (315) 781-3825. For more information on Days of Service, click here
