Mark Love, Common Room chef for dining services, has been awarded Sodexo’s “Circle of Customer Excellence Award” for the Northeast region for his outstanding customer service. He was nominated for the award on the unit-level by Pat Heieck, catering manager for dining services. He subsequently won the unit and district level honors to be considered regionally.
Joseph “Showtime Joe” Hatfield, Saga cook, won this award in January of 2009. “It’s amazing that we’ve had two winners now,” says Lynn Pelkey, general manager. “This award is a huge honor and speaks volumes about our team’s commitment to customer service. Behind the scenes, it’s a whole different world; people don’t get to see how hard staff members like Mark work -which is another reason why this award is so important.”
Love has been working in HWS dining services for 18 years, cooking for catering events and the meals served at Saga. He was both surprised and excited about the award, saying “I love to cook. I’m not looking for an award. I’m just looking to do what I love and make other people happy.”
“The level of pride and commitment Mark puts into his work is astounding,” says Pelkey, “I don’t have any worries when Mark is cooking, whether it’s for 100 people or 1,000.”
