Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was the featured speaker at the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award Dinner, held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges on Wednesday, May 19. Gandhi is founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, and the Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute, whose mission is to build basic education schools for the very poor children of the world.
In addition to Gandhi’s talk, the evening’s agenda includes the presentation of the 2010 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Awards, as well as the presentation of the Martin Luther King Educator of the Year Award.
The event was held in the Scandling Campus Center, with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m.
