Celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the Geneva Scholarships Association (GSA), a gathering to thank donors was held at the home of President Mark D. Gearan.
On Monday, June 7, the GSA, which has provided financial assistance to more than 100 Geneva youth to attend Hobart and William Smith Colleges, honored the generosity of those who have given to the program with a reception.
“We want to thank these benefactors for their commitment to Geneva, to Hobart and William Smith and to the education of young people,” says Gearan. “The GSA underscores the significant relationship between the Colleges and the Geneva community. Its members have been an indispensible part of making college possible for dozens of students, and we want to show our support and gratitude for that.”
By supporting GSA, alumni, alumnae, parents, friends and businesses make it possible for Geneva’s best to build a future by attending the Colleges. Over the past 40 years generous business owners and individuals have built GSA’s endowment to more than $1 million providing approximately $50,000 in annual scholarship support.
GSA is awarded to financially deserving and academically-minded incoming first year students from the greater Geneva area. The students will receive the GSA award each year for the four years they attend Hobart and William Smith.
The announcement of the new GSA recipients for the 2010-11 academic year was made at this reception.
