During Reunion 2010, WEOS and HWS Alumni House coordinated a live recording of National Public Radio’s weekly show, “Says You!,” the game of words and whimsy, bluff and bluster, and this week, WEOS will broadcast the Geneva show.
In the packed Smith Opera House during the Colleges’ 2010 Reunion weekend, host Richard Sher guided panelists Francine Achbar, Carolyn Faye Fox, Tony Kahn, Paula Lyons, Barry Nolan and Arnie Reisman through five rounds of wordplay competition consisting of word games, brain teasers, trivia, and parlor games.
“Says You!” is broadcasted on Public Radio stations each week, and highlights of the show are largely drawn from listener requests and will engage its viewers with humor and wit.
During the two live tapings at the Smith, the panelists quipped back and forth, with interludes from Geneva’s own East Hill Classic Jazz Quartet, and with bluffing rounds consisting of obscure words like “acnestis” and “mercous,” they kept the audience thinking and laughing.
“I would’ve given the show two thumbs up if I wasn’t ‘mercous,'” joked Hobart alum Reuben Alt ’09 after the show.
To find out what these words mean and more, tune in for the half-hour broadcast of “Says You!,” which aired on Saturday, June 19 at 4 p.m. on WEOS 89.7FM and online. Or listen to the full hour show on Sunday at noon.
