The Colleges will play a slightly different version of the popular game, bingo, to help keep everyone active this summer. As part of the Colleges’ wellness contest, which begins Monday, July 12, a bingo number will be drawn at the end of each day. If you complete a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise – any kind, anywhere – that day, you will have the number drawn for that day “X” out on your bingo card.
“It’s a fun way to spruce up an exercise routine,” says Hess. “I hope people will be as motivated during the summer as they have been during the academic year.”
A bingo card with be issued to all who sign up. While it’s best to get started at the beginning of the contest in order to have the best chance getting bingo, late sign-ups will be allowed during the first two weeks of the contest. It will take place only during the weekdays, although all are encouraged to exercise throughout the weekends as well.
To sign up, call (315) 781-3528 or e-mail Facilities Director Russ Hess firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, July 9. Your name will put on a bingo card and placed on the wall outside the fitness center. The contest ends Friday, Aug. 13.
To record your times, you can e-mail email@example.com, sign in at the front desk of Bristol Field House, or call Hess at (315) 781-3901 before midnight of the day that you completed 30 minutes of exercise. Late responses will not be acknowledged, and you need to record your exercise times in order to receive an “X” on your bingo card.
The first two winners (those who earn 5 in a row or 4 corners) will receive a gift card to the College Store, and all who earn bingo by the end of the contest will receive a cool T-shirt. Also, the department that has the most winners and the greatest percentage of participants will receive a healthy, nutritional lunch treat delivered to the office.
