Paul Reintjes ‘11 spent his summer interning at the world’s largest privately held insurance brokerage firm, Lockton Insurance Broker Corporation, after contacting one of the producers at the company. Following an application process this past February, he was offered a position as a summer associate in the Commercial Insurance Department as part of the National Accounts Unit.
“I realized that I had a chance to learn from a great institution, and after this experience I know I have a future in the insurance industry,” says Reintjes, who had never before thought about a career in the insurance industry but is now looking forward to one.
Lockton provides insurance, risk management, and employee benefits solutions. It was selected as one of the best place to work in insurance by Business Insurance magazine and Best Companies Group. “I experienced that atmosphere during my summer internship. Everyone was very helpful towards me and the other interns,” says Reintjes. “The best comparison I can make to Lockton is a family; everyone knows everyone and you will do anything for your fellow co-workers.”
Reintjes gives credit to the Colleges’ lacrosse program for providing him with the experience to perform in a fast-paced environment, as well as his commitment to the Student Athletic Advisory Council, which provided him with experience in a group work setting.
