Lyon Hosts Screening of “Breathless”

Associate Professor of English Elisabeth Lyon will host a screening of French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless” at the Cinemapolis Theater in Ithaca, N.Y.  The film, originally released in 1960, has been fully restored for its 50th anniversary.  Lyon, a specialist in French cinema, will introduce the film in its first showing at the independent movie theater, and will lead an audience discussion following the conclusion of the film.  The premiere screening is Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

Lyon received her M.A. from New York University and her Ph.D . from University of California at Berkeley.  She developed feature film projects for Bona Fide Productions in West Hollywood including scripts for the films “Election,” which was nominated for an Academy Award, and “The Wood.” Lyon was a co-founder, and served as co-editor, of the feminist film theory journal Camera Obscura.
