Andrew Gaines ‘83, an attorney and partner with Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York, will return to campus on Thursday, Oct. 21, to present a talk about a career in law as part of the Professionals in Residence Program.
Sponsored by the Salisbury Center for Career Services, Professionals in Residence offers opportunities for students to speak one-on-one with graduates who have gone on to successful careers and are willing to share some tips of the trade that come only with individual experience.
Gaines’ discussion will include insight into his career path as well as his specialization in law, which includes tax, executive compensation and employee benefits. He has been recognized as a “leading” lawyer in Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation by Chamber USA, 2010 and chairs the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Additionally, Gaines has published numerous articles on executive compensation and employee benefits and lectures regularly on these topics.
Students will also be afforded the opportunity to meet one-on-one with him the following morning, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Salisbury Center for Career Services.
During his time at Hobart, Gaines was a Dean’s list student who graduated with a B.A. in political science. He was also a member of the Hobart swim team and worked in Saga. He graduated with his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
