Think you have what it takes to be an HWS rower? Here’s your chance to find out! On Wednesday, Oct. 27, join HWS and Geneva community members for the Hobart and William Smith rowing teams’ annual Challenge for Community.
Challenge for the Community pits the novice rower against members of the Colleges’ rowing teams. After an on-site rowing lesson at Bristol Field House from an experienced rower, participants will then go head-to-head in a 500 meter race on an indoor rower. Should the challenger emerge victorious, his or her $5 entry fee will be donated to a charity of choice; if not, the rower gets to choose the charity.
All money donated in the challenge supports local projects such as DeSales Institute for Peace and Justice, Geneva Little League Baseball, and Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes.
Sign-ups for those who wish to participate are Monday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Scandling Campus Center; however, drop-ins are welcome on the day of the Challenge. The event itself will be held in Bristol Field House Wednesday, Oct. 27 between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Come help HWS and the Geneva communities while engaging in some friendly competition.
