Hobart first-year Nick Schmidt led the Statesmen finishing fourth out of 30 runners at the Heron Invitational held at Seneca Lake State Park this afternoon. He completed the 8-kilometer course in 28 minutes, 54 seconds.
The next Hobart runner to cross the finish line was first-year Josh Kirkman. He logged a time of 29:41 for a seventh place finish. Sophomore Blake Taylor claimed ninth recording a time of 30:01. Taking tenth place was first-year Greg Mathieu. He finished in 30:07. Senior Ross Hicks (Hopkins School/Hamden, Conn.) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Statesmen finishing in 13th place in 30:42. Sophomore Alden Ruml finished just three seconds behind Hicks in 14th place.
Hobart will host the Liberty League Championships at Seneca Lake State Park on Saturday, Oct. 30.
