This fall, Hobart and William Smith Colleges are collaborating with the Geneva community to provide an after school enrichment program for local youth. The program, called “BOOST!” launched on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Directed by Paula Foote’07, MAT ’08, BOOST! staff are current HWS students who have experience working with school-aged children through the HWS Teacher Certification Program and various other outlets. Through the program, 4th– 6th graders from Geneva come to campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The children involved participate in enrichment lessons that complement school curriculum in the areas of math, science, creative writing, social studies, and the arts while playing, exploring, and learning through different activities. In addition, the three hour sessions include snack time, recreation and homework assistance.
The Geneva City School Transportation Office has coordinated transportation from North Street School, St. Francis-St. Stephen School, and Geneva Middle School for the students. Children are dropped off and picked up at the Scandling Campus Center.
The cost of the enrichment program is $15 per day, per student. If interested, please contact the Conferences and Events Office at 315-781-3103 or e-mail Erica Connor at email@example.com.
For the fall semester, BOOST! will take place on campus every Tuesday and Thursday except Thursday, Nov. 11, and Thursday, Nov. 25, as both are school holidays.
