Pebole recieves honorable mention

In the Sporting News 2010-11 College Basketball preview issue, Hobart junior forward Matt Pebole was tabbed as an honorable mention selection on the preseason All-America team.

Last season, Pebole was a unanimous first team All-Liberty League selection, in addition to being named to the D3hoops.com All-East Region first team. He led the Liberty League with 18.9 ppg. Pebole was also among the conference leaders in field goal percentage (3rd, .537), free throw percentage (6th, .805), and rebounding (7th, 6.5 rpg).

In 2009-10, the Hobart basketball team earned its third-highest win total in team history (17), reaching the Liberty League Tournament for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Statesmen advanced to the Liberty League final before falling to St. Lawrence, and earned a berth in the ECAC Upstate Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Statesmen were mentioned as a “possible breakthrough” team. The Sporting News listed its preseason top 10 in Division III and singled out 33 other teams as “possible breakthroughs.”

Hobart will open its 101st season at home against Cazenovia on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The entire schedule for the 2010-11 season can be found here.
