Statesmen cap fall rowing season

The Hobart rowing team concluded its fall racing season at the Syracuse Invitational today. The Statesmen novice eight produced the team’s best finish of the day, placing fifth in the Freshmen 8 division.

Jessica Dinan, Conor Eagan, Osman Guneri, Andrew Thompson, Alex Kent, Robert Shannon, Edward Amorello, Chris Smith, and Eamon Smith covered the 5,000-meter course in16 minutes, 54.4 seconds. Hobart’s second novice eight finished eighth in 17:30.1. Cornell won the race in 16:23.

The Statesmen also raced two varsity fours. The first crew competed in the A Flight, finishing 11th in 17:37.2, while the second crew competed in the B Flight, placing ninth in 18:18.1. Syracuse won the A flight in 16:22.6, while Cornell’s sixth four won the B Flight in 18:18.1.

“Overall, it was a good day of racing in cold, flat conditions,” Head Coach Mike Alton said. “All of our boats competed very well against some great competition.”
