Holmes ’99 Named Principal

Phil Holmes ’99 was recently named principal of Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  Holmes was previously principal of Ephesus Elementary School, a post he held since 2007. He has also served as principal of Burton IB Magnet Elementary School, in Durham County, and assistant principal of Ephesus.

Holmes graduated from Hobart College with a B.A. in history, having minored in education. He was a member of the Hobart crew team, Chi Phi, the Interfraternity Council and the Orange Key Society. He served as an orientation program coordinator in 1998, and was inducted into the Druids. He holds a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
