The Light Up Geneva Auction will take place downtown, with proceeds going toward holiday snowflake lighting in the city on Thursday, Nov. 18. The HWS community is supporting local Geneva businesses in this project. Assistant Director of Student Activities Kim Kochin, Director of the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning Katie Flowers, and the Student Affairs Office are helping to organize the effort with the Geneva Business Improvement District.
“We want to get people downtown to support the local community,” says Kochin. This past summer, the Colleges provided similar support for Cruisin’ Night, a car show which also benefited Geneva businesses.
Nearly every local Geneva business, restaurant and store has donated $25 to the silent auction; the winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate to be used at the participating businesses.
The auction will take place between 5 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 18 at 68 Castle St. Students wishing to buy tickets can contact Kochin via phone or e-mail. Tickets are one for $10 or three for $25.
