Heron Soccer Hosts NCAAs

William Smith College will host the first and second rounds of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament on Nov. 13-14. The Herons will take on Keuka College at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the University of Scranton playing Plattsburgh State at 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. to play for a spot in the third round.

All three matches will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7) and have live stats available at www.hwsathletics.com. Ticket prices are $6 for general admission, $3 for senior citizens, students, and military personnel with a valid ID, and $2 for children ages 3-12. Children 2 and under are free.

The Herons earned the Liberty League’s automatic bid into the 2010 NCAA Tournament after winning their fourth straight conference championship. William Smith defeated Skidmore 2-1 in the semifinal round, and edged Vassar 4-3 in penalty kicks in the championship game. The Herons have a 14-2-3 overall record going into their 24th consecutive postseason appearance and 21st NCAA Tournament berth.
