William Smith first-year Meghan Gaucher led the Herons at the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Region Championships at Fortin Park hosted by SUNY Oneonta. Gaucher completed the 6-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 18.1 seconds to finish 122nd out of 236 runners.
First-year KC Cronmiller was next to finish for William Smith. She recorded a time of 25:52.6 to finish 150th. First-year Maggie Nash was right behind her placing 153rd in 25:57.3. First-year Marielle Verni recorded a personal best 6k time of 26:47.9 and sophomore Kelly Watters rounded out the top-five Heron finishers crossing the finish right with Verni.
William Smith finished 26th out of 33 teams. St. Lawrence’s Wendy Pavlus crossed the line in 21:11 to earn the title of NCAA Atlantic Region Champion for the second straight year beating the field by over 30 seconds. Pavlus will now head to the national championships looking to defend her 2009 title as National Champion.
St. Lawrence (59) and Geneseo (78) were also the top two teams for the women and will be awarded with a team automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
